ICE AND FIRE Adventure Tour

The Ice and Fire adventure tour is the best way to see the many unique wonders of Iceland including the northern lights when the weather contitions are right, it is an adventure tour that takes you to the highland of this extraordinary island. This tour combines the nature that is one of a kind and the grate hospitality of Iceland with a mountain expert that will make sure that you see the best that the country has to offer each time.

In this incredibly adventurous tour is seasonal and based on weather conditions, but a classic Ice and Fire 3 day tour could look like this...

Day 1 Arrival in the land of ice and fire

Transfer from the airport to transport you to the capital of the north and to your hotel. You can use your time if you arrive early to explore the city or a good nights rest for the adventure ahead

Day 2 Reykjavík City / Þórsmörk Valley / Valley of the gods

We are picked up at tour guesthouse/ hotel in Reykjavík by our driver guide and his Super Jeep. After meeting our private guide to the adventures in Iceland we head out and start on the highway from Reykjavik driving southeast to a beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss where you can feel the drizzle from the falling water while walking behind the waterfall.

Crossing over glacier rivers and rough terrain the green valley of Þórsmörk welcomes us, it is one of the brightest pearls in the string of beautiful areas of the country, surrounded by rugged and majestic mountains, glaciers and glacial rivers. We will make a short hike and enjoy the nature. Then leaving the vegetated area of Þórsmörk we head to the total opposite; the glacier Mýrdalsjökull but under its thick layer of ice there is an active volcano and the eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull glacier is the most resent one. The view from the glacier is breathtaking, we see over to Vestmannaeyjar islands, the Mt. Eyjafjöll and the black sandy beaches

On Mýrdalsjökull glacier optional:

Duration – 1 hour on the snowmobile

We have the opportunity to drive further through the world of ice on snow scooters, there is something exhilarating about the feeling you get when going over a glacier on scooters!

From there we look at Skógarfoss, a clear free and beautiful falling waterfall before heading to our resting place for the night.

Day 3 Þórsmörk / Landmannalaugar / Behind the mountains

We drive through the legendary mountain path Southern Fjallabak "behind the mountains" with spectacular view over both Vatnajökull glacier and Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Then we head through the Landmannalaugar area into the brooding volcanic landscape of Iceland’s highland interior.

Landmannalaugar, this pearl of the interior is situated in a valley between colorful mountains at the dark edge of the rhyolite lava field Laugahraun. So we need to cross rugged lava fields, unabridged mountain rivers and sprawling arctic deserts, we reach Landmannalaugar, a landscape of sweeping mountains and hot and cold springs which mix together to create the ideal setting for a relaxing swim or refreshing walk.

Situated in the highlands of Iceland and after traveling through the ever changing landscape we are refreshed and energized and we can take a hike, we can hunt for the Northern lights as there is not a city with in miles to light up the sky.

Day 4 Landmannalaugar – The Golden Circle - Reykjavik

Leaving this natural oasis, we head for the slopes of Hekla, Iceland’s most active volcano, before beginning our journey back to Reykjavik.

We then continue to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. We then continue to Geysir probably the world’s most famous hot spring. The attraction of the area is Stokkur which erupts at regular intervals every 10 minutes or so and its white column of boiling water can reach as high as 20-30 metres. In the afternoon we head to Thingvellir National park, home of Iceland’s parliament from 930-1798 Thingvellir is also the point on Earth’s surface where the North Atlantic ridge splits the two geological continents of North America and Eurasia. From this aged meeting place our guide will take us to Reykjavík, all the way to our guesthouse or hotel.

Day 5 Departure day

Transfer will from your hotel about 2,5 hour before your flight leaves.

If you have an afternoon flight you could add a stop in the Blue Lagoon before you return home

Our Super Jeeps / Trucks are heavily modified 4wd jeeps. The tires are large,
38-44 inches in diameter, giving the Super Jeep very high clearance from the ground. The way these specially equipped jeeps are used in Iceland is unique in the world.
