day1

Day one: Entering Vatnajökull glacier

We start by flying from Reykjavík to Egilsstaðir, a little town in the north, where modified super jeeps will be waiting for us. We waste no time and head straight to Vatnajökull glacier as there is no reason to let the largest glacier in Iceland wait. We will drive to Mt. Snæfell, over Brúarjökull glacier and we set a course to Mt. Kverkfjöll. There we will hike in the unique hot spring area that has melted down a part of the glacier and made an extraordinary ice cave. If conditions are favourable we will drive down the hills of Mt.Kverkföll, where the altitude drops about 800 meters. At the base of Mt. Kverkfjöll we can enjoy a bath in a warm river named Volga or “Slightly warm”. There are no words to describe the feeling of lying in a warm river in the middle of the highland, relaxing after an extraordinary day. After this adventure we will head to our mountain oasis, where we will stay for the night.

Day two, a sneek peek at Hell

Mt. Askja in the area of Dyngjufjöll is an exquisite location where the excitement of the magnificent view is calmed down with the peace and quiet you can only find on mountain tops.

We will see Thorvaldstindar peaks, the crater Víti (Hell) and the deepest lake in Iceland, lake Öskuvatn.

We will take a look at Drekagil gorge and we stop at Skínandi waterfall (Shiny) in Svartá river (Black river). Hveragil gorge with all its hot springs and waterfalls is our next stop. There we will find our own natural spa with a wide variety of water treatments for all. After a relaxing stop we head to Sigurðarskáli cabin that will be our haven for the night.

Day three - Departure

Where nature meets man To day we go through the land of outlaws, to Hvannalindir springs and from there to Kverkárlón lagoon. At this point we leave the exceptional natural marvels behind us and head to Hálslón lagoon and then to Kárahnjúkar dam, the biggest dam in Iceland. We take a look at the grand structure before we head back to the town of Egilsstaðir to catch the flight back to Reykjavík.
